The United Nations University Artificial Intelligence Network (UNU AI Network) embodies a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the United Nations University (UNU) alongside its partners. This network is envisioned as a comprehensive global platform, uniting the expertise of academia, the innovation of the private sector, the foresight of policymakers, and the grassroots engagement of civil society. Together, we aim to address the multifaceted challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) on a global scale.
Our Mission
Rooted in the principles outlined by UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the UNU AI Network is dedicated to fostering collaborative efforts. Through partnerships within the network, we strive to develop and implement innovative solutions, including commitments, science-based policy recommendations, and advanced technological tools. These efforts are aimed at promoting a people-centric and sustainable digital future, with a particular focus on empowering the Global South.

Membership Contributions
Membership in the UNU AI Network is free, but we encourage voluntary financial and in-kind contributions to support the network’s activities and ensure its longevity. Our goal is to raise $200,000 to fund our inaugural project and appoint a dedicated coordinator to maintain the vibrancy of the network. Contributors will gain recognition as founding partners, enjoying additional benefits aligned with mutual interests.
